Soldiers Storm Kogi Assembly, Bar Legislators From Entering.

Armed soldiers stormed the Kogi State House of Assembly on Tuesday, causing havoc and preventing legislators from entering the building.

According to Punch, the security operatives entered the complex in the early morning, blocking gates and roads leading in the Assembly precinct.

A group of lawmakers who had gathered within the complex announced that embattled speaker Momoh-Jimoh Lawal is impeached, a statement which would later be declared null and void.

G15 spokesperson Matthew Kolawole expressed shock at the turn of events, claiming that members of the group had been provoked the night before when soldiers shot in the air in order to intimidate them.

Abdulkareem Abdulmalik, Special Adviser to the state governor on Media and Publicity, has since distanced the Government from the fracas, claiming that they are not involved in the crisis besetting the Assembly, Vanguard reports.

Security operatives have since claimed that they were present at the complex only to prevent a breakdown in law and order.
