Embattled factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sherrif and his warring partner and chairman of the caretaker committee of the party, Ahmed Makarfi, have been locked out of a meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), reports Vanguard.
The duo have been locked in a battle for the soul of the party with two courts giving different rulings favouring each party.
Sheriff walked into the Transcorp Hilton, venue of the meeting at about 11:10 am while Makarfi appeared at the venue five minutes later.
They both reportedly sat at the high table where the chairman of the board, Jibril Wali, and the secretary, Ojo Maduekwe sat.
Minutes later, Wali announced that the board had taken a very important decision and that this would precede the meeting.
He therefore asked journalists at the venue to leave the hall.
Few minutes later, Sheriff and Makarfi were seen walking out of the meeting hall.
A member of the board said the two were asked to leave the hall because the issue to be discussed centred around both of them.
News24 had reported that the BoT had on Tuesday given indication that it would take over the party’s administration.
The board said it could not fold its arms and watch the party go into extinction.
