Nyeri Governor, Nderitu Gachagua has jetted back into the country after a four-month absence, County Secretary Alice Wachira has said.
Gachagua, who was said to have been on medical review in India, arrived in the country on Thursday evening.
This comes few days after Nyeri MCAs demanded a statement from the County Executive over the Governor’s long absence in the county.
Nominated MCA, Joseph Kanyi demanded that the executive tell the residents about the whereabouts of the County boss.
Kanyi said he was concerned by the county government’s failure to communicate to the public on the status of the Governor.
“In 2013, Nyeri residents elected Nderitu Gachagua as their Governor and the individual became the centre of authority, the corporate image of the County and the inspiration of the people of this County,” Kanyi said.
Governor Gachagua went missing on December after Jamhuri Day celebrations.
However, his family had asked the public and the media to stop snooping into the Governor’s health condition.
Rigathi Gachagua, the Governor’s brother, said that the media and public should leave the family alone as the Governor’s health was a private matter.
Rigathi insisted that the Governor should be left alone and there was no need to keep inquiring about his whereabouts adding that the County government is still running and all the development projects are on course.
