The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) national chairman, Omboko Milemba has declared his intention to seek Emuhaya parliamentary seat in 2017.
While addressing mourners at North Bunyore in Emuhaya, Milemba said he was keen on joining the competitive Kenyan politics.
The unionist made his intention to leave teachers unionism at a time when the unions’ vigour was crippled following failure by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to remit union dues since September last year.
“I have championed for the rights of teachers for many years. I will be seeking the parliamentary seat for Emuhaya Constituency in the coming elections,” Milemba said.
He asked the electorate to consider his candidature and urged teachers from the region to rally their support behind him.
He said, “Teachers understand leadership and can steer this country ahead.”
Other aspirants who also declared their candidature at the same forum included Bigood Asena, a member to Vihiga County public service board, a political analyst Joseph Simekha and Charles Anunda.
