President Uhuru Kenyatta is understood to be in the full know of the government ploy to harass Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
Sources at State House told News24 that the President has been briefed on efforts to effectively manhandle Joho.
“The President knows but he has let Nkaissery do what he is. As long as the law is in place, then he is okay,” the source added.
The revelation comes in the wake of the continued attempts by Police to arrest Joho for refusing to return his firearm license.
Nkaissery stated that he would arrest Joho if he did not do so last evening.
However the efforts by the CS to take on Joho were thwarted by a court order which stopped him from executing his threat.
Justice George Odunga accused Nkaissery of misusing his office and further labelled the decision by the Chief Licensing Officer Samwel Kimaru to cancel Joho’s license as out or order and illegal.
