Newmont Gold has pledge GH 50,000 to the government of Ghana in help take care of victims of the recent flood and fire disaster outbreak that ooccurredin Accra.

The Regional senior Vice President of Newmont Gold, in charge of Africa operations, John Ferreira who disclosed this during the the 2015 world environment day celebration hosted by Valley View University at Oyibi, said the pledge would be used to support the government to cover expenses incurred. Newmont will offer additional emergency displacement training as well.
Ferreira hopes the support will go a long way in ameliorating the sufferings of the victims and their families. “In these heart rending moments of unimaginable pain and distress, the Newmont Gold wishes to express its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the families of those who still remain unaccounted for and other victims who have suffered loss of property and remain traumatized by the unfortunate development,” John Ferreira stated.On June 3, 2015, heavy floods led to an explosion, which claimed over 200 lives and caused loss of property worth millions of Ghana cedis.
