Ivy Kombo, a Zimbabwean gospel musician, and her husband, Pastor Admire Kasi, were detained on suspicion of illegally obtaining bogus certifications to practice law in the country.
According to The Herald, their arrest was conducted out by Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) officers who unearthed the troubling circumstances surrounding their legal qualifications.
Ivy Kombo and her husband, Pastor Admire Kasi, were arrested just a few months after being admitted as lawyers.It is claimed that they obtained their certificates with the help of a suspended official from the Council for Legal Education.
Notably, Ivy Kombo claimed to be a graduate of the University of Bedfordshire in the United Kingdom, where she earned an LLB Law and an LLM International Commercial Law degree. Her husband has a Master of Laws degree from the University of Buckingham (UK).
The couple appeared in Harare Magistrates Court this afternoon on fraud and perjury allegations.
