Budalangi Member of Parliament (MP) Ababu Namwamba on Sunday got himself under fire after he accidentally made comments insinuating that he had joined the newly formed Jubilee Party – yet he was in Mombasa, an Opposition stronghold.
While addressing a congregation at Glory Worship Centre in Bangladesh, Namwamba angered youth after his tongue apparently slipped and he said: ‘Sisi kama chama cha Jubilee (We in Jubilee Party).
It’s these comments that sparked an uproar with one of the youth telling the former ODMSecretary-General, that God had done wonders by compelling him to ‘confess his sins’.
“So it is true you were bought by Jubilee? How much? You are not man enough. Look at the marvel of God, He has just made you confess your sins. Now we know you are in Jubilee. LPK is just a leaf in a tree,” the man shouted.
Another young man, who was among a group donned in ODM shirts, shouted at Namwamba telling him that he was a government project and would not succeed in his mission.
“Some rebels who have left ODM have declared their status, what are you afraid of? Don’t come here preaching LPK while we know you are in the government,” shouted an agitated man.
After Namwamba finished his address, angry youth blocked his exit from the church for about 30 minutes demanding answers to why he left the Orange Party.
However, his vehicle later managed to speed off amid the mayhem leaving the rowdy youth chanting.
In his address, Namwamba attacked Jubilee and CORD for failing to address graft in their respective strongholds.
LPK’s Secretary General David Makali later addressed the matter stating the youth were hired by their rival parties to cause chaos during the meeting.
