Kevin Ford, a Burger King employee in Las Vegas, Nevada, was recently given only a little goodie bag for 27 years of service and never missing a day of work. The bag contained a bag of Reese’s, a Starbucks reusable cup, two pens, and one movie ticket, according to TMZ. Ford claimed that the corporation sent him items “they had lying around.”
In a now-viral video, he shared his feelings of being disrespected after receiving a gift bag from HMS Host, the firm that hires Burger King employees. Nonetheless, because he is the type of guy he is, he showed his gratitude to Burger King.
“I’m happy about anything, I’m thankful for anything I get, I’m not that type of person, believe me. I’ve been through a lot. It’s a great company, you know, I’ve been there for 27 years. But like most big corporations, they’ve kind of lost touch with their workers, and through Covid and whatever, they started cutting out programs,” he said.
Many individuals were stunned by his remarks, which left them upset and unhappy with Burger King after spending two decades there. As a result, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to remind Ford of his greater worth.
The campaign has so far raised more than $400,000. One of the campaign’s most prominent gifts came from actor and comedian David Spade, who gave $5,000 and congratulated Ford on Instagram.
Meanwhile, HMSHost issued a statement in which they stated that the goodie bag Ford received was something “we call a Shout Out, which is recognition and appreciation from his peers.” Burger King responded to the gift event as well, stating that it was merely a “peer-to-peer reward in recognition of a short-term positive performance/experience.”
