Two held after pupil knifed to death while walking home from school

Cape Town  -Two people have been taken in for questioning after a 17-year-old youth was stabbed to death on his way home from school on Tuesday.

The pupil is understood to have been walking home from Mondale High School in Mitchells Plain.

The teen died of a single stab wound to the chest, police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said.

“Information received indicates that the victim was stabbed in Silversands Avenue, Portlands by unidentified suspects. He later died at the [Mitchells Plain District] hospital.”

Van Wyk said the circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known.

But according to social media posts, the boy had been robbed of his cellphone and school bag before he was stabbed.

Police have taken in a 30-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman for questioning in connection with the incident and the investigation continues, Van Wyk confirmed.
