Kenya’s First Lady has received her African Union passport from the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), making her the first to do so in her capacity.

This follows the presentation of the first two copies to current chairperson of the AU and Chadian president, Idris Deby Itno and Rwandan president Paul Kagame during the 27th African Union (AU) summit in the Rwandan capital, Kigali last week.

The Deputy Chairperson of the AUC, H.E. Erastus Mwencha, tweeted a photo on Tuesday of happy Mrs Margaret Kenyatta receiving her red covered African Union (diplomatic) passport.

“Pleased to handover African Union passport to Kenya’s First Lady. She’s the 1st-First Lady to receive AU Passport,” Mwencha said.
