Taraba urges partnerships to address water challenges

Abuja – The Taraba State has called on the Africa Development Bank (AfDB) to explore partnerships with the administration particularly in the area of water supply.

Sylvanus Giwa, the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku, said the latter had said the state need urgent assistance in the provision of portable water for the people

“It would be unfair of me to be living in the coffer of luxury while the people of the state are still fetching water from the ponds. It is not right for me to be moving with siren when my people are troubled wearing gloomy and downcast faces as a result of lack of drinking water,” Ishaku is quoted as saying.

The governor vowed to deal with the issue headlong pending the achievement of lasting solutions.

He stressed that the plights of its citizenry were the cardinal objectives of his administration.

“I am troubled whenever I see my people share ponds and streams with animals. My mission to rescue Taraba will only be actualized if good health is guaranteed for the people through the provision of portable water to them,” the governor added.

He challenged AfDB to come up with better ways to expand the areas of coverage in terms of water provision to Jalingo, the state capital with a population of over 250 000
