A truck that was ferrying sugarcane fell off the Nyamasaria flyover along the Nairobi-Kisumu highway, killing two people.
A Form Four student at Oasis of Hope Secondary school escaped with injuries after being hit by the debris from the tumbling truck, while over 20 others escaped by a whisker.
The Star reports that the driver was transporting sugarcane to Kibos factory when he lost control of the vehicle, falling 15 meters off the newly constructed flyover.
The loader died on his way to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital while the driver died on arrival, Standard reports.
Police suspect that brake failure is responsible for the Thursday morning accident, even as residents asked the government to bar heavy vehicles from using the overpass.
