Herds of livestock stolen from herders in Ambalo grazing area, Sololo sub-county in Marsabit County have been recovered in neighbouring Ethiopia.
Marsabit County Commissioner Magu Mutindika said good relations between Kenya and Ethiopia led to the recovery of the ten herds of cattle.
Mutindika said the two sides of authorities were committed to stemming livestock theft and other forms of crime around the border region in order to enhance the existing enabling environment for development.
He urged locals to discard the outdated practice of cattle rustling and instead engage in activities that better their socio-economic wellbeing like education and business.
He appealed to Marsabit residents to continue co-existing peacefully.
The animals were handed over to the owners in Ambalo, a move the residents have applauded and commended the government for efforts made to recover their stolen property.
Currently, Kenya and Ethiopian governments are engaged in multi-million mega projects including the LAPSSET corridor project.
