South Africans Slam Cast Of Oscar Pistorius Movie

Social media users have slammed the trailer for a movie based on Oscar Pistorius’ rise and fall from grace

The biopic, called Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer, is set to hit US screens in November.

Digital cable and satellite television network, Lifetime, released the trailer on Monday.

Reeva’s family has slammed the biopic, saying in a statement that they did not endorse the film.

“June Steenkamp had no knowledge of the making of the film Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer. She was not approached by [Lifetime] to participate, comment or be part of the making thereof,” the family said in a statement.

South Africans are less than impressed with the film

Many took to social media to express their disgust in the biopic.

“The #OscarPistorius movie is trash, I’ll never celebrate a man who shot and killed his girlfriend on valentine’s day NO!!!” one Twitter user said.

Another added: “We don’t need a f**king Oscar Pistorius movie to remind us of what he did to Reeva. It played out on live TV! Blade Runner Killer must TSEK!”

The actors used to portray the role of Oscar and Reeva have also come under fire.

Some social media users have slammed Andreas Damm’s bad South African accent

The 31-year-old actor, who plays Oscar, grew up in Johannesburg but moved to America in 2005.

Others questioned why German Victoria Secret’s model Toni Garrn played Reeva and not someone from South Africa.

The movie was also criticised for looking like a low-budget film, with some likening it to a student art project!
