
Award winning South African songstress, Lira will headline the 16 edition of the Koroga Festival in Nairobi, Kenya on 19 March.
The line-up also includes taarab-influenced pop musician Nyota Ndogo from Kenya, superstar Lady JayDee from Tanzania, DJ Protégé, and DJ Andre. The festival celebrates African talent, food and culture.
Throughout the years artists such as South African duo Mafikizolo, Uganda’s Maurice Kirya and Soukous maestro Koffi Olomide, amongst many others have performed at the festival.
Lira is one of the best female singers in South Africa, she was discovered in 2000 and signed to 999 where she released her debut album All My Love in 2003. In 2006 she signed to Sony Music and released three albums, Feel Good , Soul in Mind and Return to Love, all 3 of which were certified platinum and subsequently won her numerous accolades and multiple South African Music Awards (SAMAs) – 11 to date.
Her music career spans 13 years and while releasing great music she also managed to branch out of the music industry by becoming one of the coaches on the South African version of the international hit music reality TV show, The Voice. She recently collaborated with Nigerian singer, Waje on the track ‘Mountain’.
