Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari has actually sent an enthusiastic appeal to militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers, to place a stop to strikes on oil and gas pipes throughout the nation.
According to a Naij report, the group claimed responsibility for a number of attacks on Nigeria’s oil facilities and has vowed to continue the destruction should their demands not be met.
President Buhari made his plea on Thursday, asking the militants to stop their attacks “in God’s name” and saying that their activities are crippling oil production and affecting the Nigerian economy harshly, Information Nigeriareports.
Buhari noted that several militant groups are operational within the Niger Delta, while claiming that the groups are armed with sophisticated weapons such as those used by Boko Haram.
