The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State is accusing the state governor, Yahaya Bello, of sponsoring the thugs who harassed former Governor Idris Wada at the premises of the state election petition tribunal in Abuja.

The party said the position of the governor of a state is sacrosanct hence, the former occupants of the office should also be treated with dignity.

The party in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Bode Ogumola fingered a senior member of Gov Bello’s government as the mastermind of the attack on Wada.

The party regretted that state sponsored thugs could be mobilised to the venue of an election tribunal to harass innocent people who have genuinely approached the courts to seek redress and justice.

The party called on the governor to call his supporters to order.

The thugs who besieged Wada’s vehicle outside the tribunal chanting solidarity songs in favour of  the All Progressives Congress (APC) went wild and started hauling stones at his vehicle.

However, reacting to the allegations, Senior Special Adviser on Print Media to the Governor, Ademu Idakwo, said the claims were unfounded.

He said the PDP should leave the governor out of its frustrations
