The National Youth Service (NYS) servicemen have been tasked with digging the grave where former First Lady Mama Lucy Kibaki will be laid to rest.
The grave-site was identified Thursday by her husband the former President, Mwai Kibaki together with her children and close family members from both sides.
They were accompanied by the funeral organizing committee and officials from the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of government.
Members of the public and media have not been allowed to enter the highly guarded palatial home in Kanyange village.
Relatives of Lucy Kibaki who had travelled from her rural home in Mukurwe-ini, about 30 kilometers away, were stunned after security officers denied them entry and camped outside the gate.
They were later allowed in when the former President arrived with his children.
According to Kikuyu culture and tradition, the role of digging the grave is a community affair delegated to the young men in the community through guidance of old men.
During the exercise, women are tasked with cooking and feeding the young men to ensure they remain energetic.
