Kenneth Petty, Nicki Minaj’s 45-year-old husband, was sentenced to “up to 120 days in a home detention program” after posting a video of himself hurling threats against rapper Offset, according to the Los Angeles Times. According to a legal document filed in the Central District of California, Petty made the claimed threats “while in the company of someone with a criminal record.”
The videos in question were distributed on social media. Petty and two other males are seen in the video making the threats while standing on a New York street. “Offset, where you at?” Petty is heard asking as he threatens to “knock them veneers out.”
In a separate video, a man with Petty is heard saying, “Plan that vacation, you should be planning your funeral, p—.” Offset, who is married to rapper Cardi B, however, played down the alleged threats while he was entering a jet in a post on his Instagram story, per the Los Angeles Times.
Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, Offset and Petty’s spouses, have a quarrel that stems back to a 2018 fight at a New York Fashion Week event. Petty’s video was posted just days after his wife hosted the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. Cardi B also made her appearance at the occasion.
According to NewsofAfrica, Petty was sentenced to probation and home confinement last year after pleading guilty to failing to register as a s** offender in Los Angeles.
Petty was arrested in 2020 in California for failing to register as a s** offender upon entering the state. According to CBS News, he pleaded guilty to the federal indictment in 2021. According to the US Attorney’s Office, Petty was sentenced to three years of probation and one year of house arrest. In addition, he was fined $55,000.
Petty was sentenced to 18 to 54 months in jail in 1995 after pleading guilty to attempted rape of a 16-year-old female. Petty, who was 16 at the time of the crime, served four and a half years of his sentence before being freed. However, the terms of his conviction require him to register as a s** offender whenever he moves.
Petty and Nicki Minaj relocated to California after they tied the knot in October 2019.
