The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has reaffirmed its intention to repair all damaged oil pipelines attacked by the Niger Delta Avengers while outlining a 12-point plan to create an all-inclusive internal advisory console of security, Vanguard reports.
Newly appointed General Managing Director, Maikantu Baru who replaced Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu as GMD rolled out the 12-point programme for the NNPC to reform it along with the Nigerian petroleum industry.
Baru stated that effort would be made to cut the contracting cycle in the oil and gas industry, find a workable model that would address the Niger Delta challenges and undertake an overhaul of the regulatory mechanism in the industry.
News24 Nigeria reported that President Muhammadu Buhari removed Ibe Kachikwu as group managing director of the NNPC while allowing him to stay as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.
Buhari also approved the composition of the Board of the NNPC, as provided for under Section 1(2) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Act of 1997, as amended.
The NNPC stated that it plans to introduce a number of initiatives that would help develop communities around the country, improve the living conditions of Nigerians and better prepare the youth in building for their future.
