Nigerian Man Sentenced To Death For Stealing Jewellery At Gunpoint

Abuja – A Nigerian High Court has handed down a death sentence to a Lagos resident after he was found guilty of armed robbery, Nigerian publication Punch reported.

The suspect, Friday James, was said to have stolen jewellery worth N100 000, while inflicting injuries on his victims during his attack.

The presiding judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye, found the convict guilty on two charges of armed robbery, resulting in his sentence of death by hanging.

This marked the second time that Justice Ipaye has handed down a death sentence in the past two weeks, following his sentencing of two convicts just last week.

According to This Day Live, the judge handed down a death sentence to two men last Wednesday on charges of conspiracy, attempted armed robbery and armed robbery.
