Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is set to receive the released 21 Chibok girls at the State House in Abuja.

This was confirmed in a statement by the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu.

Shehu said that the girls who are currently in the custody of the DSS would soon be received by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Osinabjo will be receiving the girls on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari who began a three-day trip to Germany to discuss assistance for the rebuilding of the northeastern part of Nigeria ravaged by Boko Haram.

More than 200 girls were abducted from their schools in Borno state in 2014 by the terrorists and while some of them have reportedly died, the rest have been held by the dreaded group.

News24 earlier reported that the girls were picked up by military helicopter from Banki area of Borno state where Boko Haram militants dropped them off.

The names of the girls released have not been disclosed yet.
