The National Assembly election petition tribunal in Kano State on Tuesday upheld the victory of Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Kano-Central senatorial election, reports Daily Trust.
The tribunal dismissed the petition filed by Basheer Lado Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the victory of the former Kano State governor.
In his ruling, chairman of the tribunal, Justice C.I Akintayo, said Mohammed and PDP failed to prove their case before the tribunal.
The judge held that the respondent was eminently qualified to contest for the seat of the Kano Central senatorial district.
He added that petitioner’s petition challenging the substitution of the name of Abba Kabir Yusuf, the man who had initially purchased the nomination form, with that of Kwankwaso was untenable and lacked merit.
