Abuja – Staff members at the Federal University of Lokoja in Kogi State drew an inconsolable picture as their Vice-Chancellor (VC), Professor Abdulmumini Hassan Rafindadi, left his office on Thursday, Daily Post reports.
Rafindadi’s departure follows Education Minister Adamu Adamu’s announcement, on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, that he would be appointing new VCs in a bid to replace those that were appointed during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
Despite reports stating that the VCs have not been officially fired, the decision has caused widespread outrage, with a group of protesters taking to the streets of Abuja on Wednesday to voice their discontent.
According to a Naij report, over 2000 protesters barricaded the entrance of the National Assembly while calling for the removal of Adamu as the Minister of Education.
Following a petition sent to the National Assembly by the group, the Minister has been given until Friday, February 19, to reverse the sackings and resign from his position.
