Six people, including four children, have allegedly been killed following a fatal auto crash along the Bauchi-Ningi Road on Tuesday.
According to a Punch report, the accident occurred due to a a vehicle losing control and somersaulting. Thirteen people were said to have been transported at the time of the accident.
Haruna Mohammed, PR Officer for the State Police, confirmed the incident while saying that the deceased passed away while receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
“On April 5, 2016 (Tuesday), at about 16:00hrs (4:00pm), there was a fatal motor accident at Yelwa bridge of Karia ward, along Bauchi-Ningi Road, in Ganjuwa LGA of Bauchi State.
“The accident occurred when a Peugeot 806 with registration No. XB 953 DUT, conveying 13 passengers and driven by one Aliyu Adamu, (male), 30, of Babaldu town in Birnin Kudu LGA of Jigawa State, lost control and skidded off the road. As a result, the vehicle somersaulted and hit a tree.
“Police patrol team attached to Ganjuwa Division visited the scene and rushed the victims who sustained varying degrees of injuries to the General Hospital, Ningi, for medical attention,” he said.
Seven addition people are said to have been injured during the unfortunate incident.
