Embattled factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ali Modu Sheriff has warned the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) to drop its plan of taking over the functions of the party’s National Working Com¬mittee (NWC), reports Today.
Sheriff said he remains the authentic National Chairman of the party.
News24 had reported that the BoT on Tuesday gave indication that it would take over the party’s administration,
This follows conflicting court judgments on the authentic leadership of the party.
Former Minister of Transport and BoT Secretary, Ojo Madueke said the move, which he claimed was in consonance with PDP’s constitution, was to avoid a vacuum in its operations.
He said the board could not fold its arms and watch the party go into extinction.
But Sheriff on Wednesday said that by the judgment of Justice Hussein Buba of the Federal High Court, Lagos, he remains the authentic chairman of the party.
Sheriff said it would amount to an infraction on the party’s constitu¬tion and contempt of court for the BoT, which he described as merely advisory body, to usurp the functions of the NWC.
Sheriff, who spoke through his media aide, Inua Bwala,, said what the Ahmed Makarfi committee had was a court injunction; while the pronouncement of Justice Buba was a declaratory judg¬ment.
