Nigeria President to Become OPEC President and Petroleum Minister

 President Muhammadu Buhari may become President of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), if he appoints himself Nigeria’s petroleum minister. buhari potrait.jpg

  1. PM NEWS reports that an official of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) who spoke anonymously said that the exit of the former Minister Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, had nothing to do with the status of Nigeria as the President of the organisation.

    According to the official, Nigeria and not Alison-Madueke won the OPEC seat. The official said the position would be filled after the appointment of a new Minister of Petroleum by the president.

    Alison-Madueke was elected the president of the international oil body on Nov. 27, 2014.
