Nigeria: INEC Admits Receiving Notice Of Appeal From Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has admitted receiving a notice of appeal from the Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu,Premium Times reports.

The commission, however, said the documents it received did not contain a stay-of-execution order, to stop the issuance of a certificate of return to Sampson Ogah as the next governor of the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday issued the Certificate of Return to Uche Ogah as the new Governor of Abia State.

A Federal High court in Abuja had on Monday asked INEC to cede the Certificate of Return issued to Okezie Ikpeazu to Ogah, who was his opponent in the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary.

Ogah had dragged the governor to court for lying about some of the information he submitted to the PDP during the primary, according to News 24
