An elderly chief has met his demise in Ondo State following an attack by armed men at his residence in Akure.
According to Punch, the deceased, Chief Dada Oyateru (82), was left for dead after gunmen cut the burglar bars surrounding his house and entered his room through the window.

Titilola Oyateru, wife of the deceased, has lamented her ordeal while explaining how the assailants kept the rest of the family hostage while they demanded money from the chief.
The gunmen are said to have tied the chief with ropes before strangling the deceased due to his lack of cash, The Nation reports.
Femi Joseph, PR Officer for the State Police, has since confirmed that investigations into the matter are currently underway.
