Armed youths believed to be cultists killed over 15 persons in three communities in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, reportsThe Nation.
The communities are Ovogo, Rumuewhuo and Rumuji.
Seven persons were killed in Ovogo. Two each were killed in Rumuehwuo and Rumuji.
They also burnt houses and looted properties valued at millions of naira.
Punch reports that the rampaging armed youths had earlier engaged policemen in Rumuji Divisional Police Headquarters in heavy shooting
They later chased away officers on night duty and freed all the detainees in the cell.
The bandits having gained access into the station also carted away guns and other weapons from the police armoury.
The killings in Emuoha came within 24 hours after over 20 persons, including an expectant woman and two soldiers were reportedly killed in three communities of Umuokiri Aluu, University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) community, Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Ahmad Muhammad, confirmed the invasion, but denied the causalities figure.
