A mother who fled after reportedly killing her two kids amid a custody dispute has been apprehended in the United Kingdom.
35-year-old Kimberlee Singler first complied with police when they started looking into the fatalities that happened on December 19. She did, however, vanish quickly, according to US police.
The mother was apparently apprehended “without incident” at an undisclosed location in the United Kingdom.
The Colorado Springs Police Department announced that additional information will be released at a future press conference. They withheld further information on her arrest and the allegations made against her.
It comes after she allegedly killed her nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son, and tried to kill her 11-year-old daughter, according to cops in her native Colorado.
The deaths of the children occurred during an ongoing legal dispute between Singler and her ex-husband, according to court documents.
Police responded to a 911 call about a burglary at an apartment complex in the early hours of December 19. They discovered the bodies of Singler’s daughter and son.
Singler and her eleven-year-old daughter were also found injured and were taken to hospital.
Details about how the children or Singler were injured have not been released. The eleven-year-old girl was in hospital for a few days before being discharged.
She is now recovering well physically in Colorado Springs and is not with her mother, said Ira Cronin from the Colorado Springs Police Department. Singler’s injuries were minor.
Cronin did not disclose whether Singler had reported the burglary herself. The FBI had been assisting local police in their search for Singler, confirmed Vikki Migoya, a spokesperson for the agency’s Denver office.
