MP Calls For Prosecution Of Police Involved In Exam Cheating

Kieni MP Kanini Kega has said called for prosecution of police officers and KNEC officials involved in last year’s exam leakage.

He said the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) members and the police officers should not only be suspended but be jailed for allowing irregularities in national examinations.

Speaking in his Kieni constituency Kega commended Education CS Fred Matiang’i for the bold step of the KNEC members after years of exam cheating cases.

Kega said the police officers who used to collaborate with the exam body board members to leak examinations should be brought to book.

“Let them be arraigned in court individually and be jailed. Kenyans are anxiously waiting for this. We must bring end of an era,” he added.

KNEC CEO Joseph Kivilu and eight other officials were on Tuesday suspended to allow for investigations into the rampant incidents of examination leakage.

The nine top officials were dismissed as the exam body continued to face pressure from the Education Ministry and the public to come clear, on what occasioned the massive cheating witnessed in the 2015 national exams.
