Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has approved Monday, May 24 as a work-free day for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other military officers who died in Friday’s plane crash.

The President also directed that Nigeria’s national flag be flown at half-mast in all public buildings and official residences across the country, from Monday to Wednesday May 26.
On May 22, Buhari received a briefing from the country’s Defence Minister, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and other security chiefs on the tragic plane crash.
Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru died following an aircraft crash in Kaduna which also claimed the lives of 10 other officers including the crew.
Attahiru was enroute Kaduna from Abuja on Friday, when the unfortunate incident happened.
He was laid to rest in the capital Abuja on Saturday.
