Five militants have been arrested following the blowing up of a Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) crude oil in the early hours of Friday morning.
According to Vanguard, the men are suspected to be members of the Niger Delta Avengers, although confirmation could not be given and the group has not claimed responsibility for the attack.
Sources have indicated that the pipeline was blown up at two different spots, with investigations into the matter remaining ongoing.
The Niger Delta Avengers had early issued Chevron with a new threat, stating that they would attack a new pipeline if repairs were conducted on the facility, which was previously attacked by the group.
It remains unclear whether or not repairs were being conducted on the pipeline when the bombing took place.
