Militants in Niger Delta have hit Chevron once again, this time destroying two additional facilities in the latest addition to their reign of terror.
According to a Punch report, the latest attack marks the fourth facility owned by Chevron that has been blown up within the space of a month.
The attacks are suspected to be the result of a revenge plot being staged by militant group Niger Delta Avengers, who claim their directive to Chevron is being ignored.
According to previous reports, the Niger Delta Avengers issued a warning to Chevron, claiming that they would attack the company’s assets if they continue repair work on a pipeline that was previously blown up by the military group.
The latest attack has been confirmed by a source at Chevron, who claims that the explosions have led to heavy spillage within the state’s creeks.
While declining to comment on the attacks, a source has claimed that a team of engineers has been sent out to the affected site in order to assess the damage and stop the spillage from progressing.
