Teachers across Malawi are reportedly crying foul over concerns that their salaries have not been paid for the past three months.
According to Malawi24, Enoch Malora, one of the teachers who has been left desolate, lamented the sad state of affairs, while calling on government to rectify the situation.
While prices of most goods and services have been hiked as a result of the country’s ailing economy, many teachers have been left without a means to feed their families due to the state’s failure to pay them.
When approached for commentary on the situation, education spokesperson Manfred Ndovi stated that all concerns would be address at a government level shortly.
Secondary school teachers previously issued government with an ultimatum over the salary arrears, claiming that they would embark on a nationwide strike if salaries were not settled by May 9.
