Madonna Hospitalised Due To ‘Serious’ Bacterial Infection

Madonna, the American music star, has postponed her tour after being hospitalised for a “serious” bacterial infection.

In a statement, Guy Oseary, Madonna’s manager, disclosed that the 64-year-old singer spent several days in intensive care after developing the infection on Saturday.

Oseary said she is expected to make a full recovery.

He added that new details regarding the singer’s tour will she revealed at a later date.

“On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU,” the statement reads.

“Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.

“At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.

“We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”

The tour was scheduled to kick off in Vancouver on July 15 as a celebration of her 40 years in music.

The seven-time Grammy winner’s greatest hits include ‘Into The Groove’ (1985), ‘Like A Prayer (1989)’, ‘Vogue’ (1990), and ‘Hung Up’ (2005) among others.

Madonna was awarded a Guinness World Record for the highest-grossing music tour by a female artiste in 2009 after completing her ‘Sticky & Sweet’ tour.
