Police in Lagos arrested a 40-year-old woman on Monday after she allegedly brutalized her 8-year-old house helper for stealing a plate of rice.
According to Punch, Deborah Gabriel, who is a trader, put pepper in the girl’s eyes and private part.
The report said that Gabriel had abused the girl many times in the five months that she had stayed with her, as shown by the “so many” marks all over her body.
Gabriel’s co-tenants took action after they realised that she had taken the torture to a notch higher. They alerted alerted child rights activists, who took the matter to the police, thus, leading to Gabriel’s arrest.
