Killings In Rivers State Primitive, Barbaric – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has describe as “primitive” and “barbaric” the recent political violence in Rivers State.

Buhari said this during an interactive session with Nigerians in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

According to Punch, the president said the killing of people over political differences was “unacceptable”.

Buhari’s remarks came following reports last week in which the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) charged that 32 of its members were shot, clubbed and beheaded in violence as the Rivers State prepared for a rerun of legislative elections.

The opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), however, denied responsibility for the attacks and blamed the spate of killings over two weeks on “satanic cult clashes”.

“We will deal decisively with all sponsors of violence. I have given the security services clear directives in this regard.

“We will show that violence in any form will no longer be tolerated before, during or after elections,” Buhari was quoted as saying.
