Kenyan’s Corrupt Policemen Irk Ugandan Parliamentarians

Several Uganda MPS who have been asked for bribes by Kenya police have complained about it in the house.

It was all started by a  Ugandan member of parliament who was last week in Kenya to attend her daughter’s wedding.

She complained last evening in parliament session in Kampala that she was mistreated by Kenyan  olicemen who openly asked for money when they stopped her vehicle.

The alleged mistreatment was narrated by  Mbale women MP Connie Galiwango.

She said that the trip to Kenya to attend her daughter’s wedding turned into nightmare after she was stopped several times by Kenyan police and had to pay some money before being left to continue.

”I paid 10,000 Kenyan shillings on my way to and from Mombasa to various policemen who openly demanded for money.” said Galiwango.

She said that Kenyan police officers constantly stopped hers and other Ugandan registered vehicles and openly asked for money before they could go ahead.

”We treat well our Kenyan brothers and sisters when they are in our country. We accord them all hospitality but the mistreat us when we go to their country, that is unfortunate and unacceptable. ” she said.

Other MPs .Peter Ogwang and Elijah Okupa also said that he faced the same harassment while travelling in Kenya.,and described it as humiliation by fellow Africans.

The speaker of parliament requested foreign affairs ministry  to issue to Kenya a protest note over such mistreatment.
