Kenyan blogger seeks asylum after death threats

A Kenyan blogger is seeking asylum after he was allegedly issued with death threats.

The blogger Cyprian Nyakundi has been in the news in recent times for his activity against mobile service provider Safaricom and industrial firm Bidco.

He has accused the two of a myriad of offences and stated that he will not hesitate to reveal some more.

However, in a series of tweets, he has now said that his life is in danger after being followed by unknown persons who have also been to his house in Nairobi’s Langata estate.

” Dear Kenyans. Things are bad. For the last three weeks, people have been trailing me,” he said Sunday.

” On Friday, 9 guys tried to take me but I escaped. They are said to be CID but I am not sure,” he added.

” I am trying to look for a safe place to go to. Were these people CID or were they sent to kill me,” he added.

” I will tweet when I get to a safe place or country. It seems there is no longer freedom in Kenya,” he complained.

Nyakundi has been sued by Safaricom for a series of tweets that put the firm in the spotlight for the wrong reasons.
