President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked Cord leader Raila Odinga not to malign his name and that of the Jubilee administration in order to ascend to leadership.

President Kenyatta, who was responding to Raila’s claims at French TV station early this week that the ICC cases against him and his deputy Ruto collapsed because witnesses were interfered with, said propaganda will not assist the opposition chief.

Speaking in Nyandarua County Thursday, the Head of State told Raila to be patient and wait for him to be elected instead of seeking short-cut to power.

“In 2002 I unsuccessfully contested for the presidency and accepted defeat. I didn’t unfairly criticize the man who won elections. I waited and by God’s grace I am now the President,” he said.

“Raila should patiently wait for his turn. He should know that there is no short-cut to power,” added President Kenyatta, who addressed the public at various centres in the County where he also inaugurated and commissioned various development projects implemented by the Jubilee Government.

Deputy President William Ruto hit out at Raila too over his sentiments at France 24 TV, noting that only bizarre people like the former Prime Minister can plan to jail innocent people so as to get leadership.

“There is no greater impunity than those who plan to jail innocent people for political reasons,” said Ruto
