Kenya Ports Authority Riddled With Corruption, MD Admits.

Kenya Ports Authority will venture into fighting corruption to ensure that the port is a corruption-free zone.

Addressing the press in her office at the Mombasa Port headquarters on Wednesday, KPA Acting Managing Director Catherine Muturi Wairi confirmed that the port is riddled with corruption, a vice she said must stop.

Wairi revealed that the port serves a large business fraternity within and outside the country and such corruption deeds will badly affect business.

“We have heard of corruption deals within and outside the Mombasa Port. This has badly affected our business as a country; we will fight it to the letter,” she added.

The MD warned that any individual found indulging in corruption will lose their contracts and also face the law.

She has also pledged to deal with corruption and nepotism in employment at the Port.

“We have also heard that many people are employed on basis of who you know or where you come from; that is totally unacceptable,” she reiterated.
