A 35-year-old man has been trampled to death by elephants at Manyatta Tari area in Isiolo County.
The deceased, identified as Kuchu Guyo, reportedly went missing last week only for his body and clothes to be found by a resident in a farm where he was working as a farmhand.
Area police boss, Mark Wanjala said the villager stumbled on the remains of the deceased when he went to pick miraa.
Wanjala said preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased was killed by elephants and the body mauled by hyenas.
He said the jumbos reportedly strayed from Jaldesa wildlife conservancy into the village where they trampled on the man and also destroyed food crops.
He said some blood trail and broken blood-stained tree branches were found at the scene when police officers went to collect his remainsfor post mortem examination.
Wanjala said the clothes and shoes of the deceased were positively identified by his employer and villagers.
Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Senior Warden, Peter Lekeren said investigations have kicked off to establish if the death was as a result of wildlife–human conflict.
