A 38-year-old man has been arrested for sodomising 19 school boys aged between 8 and 15 years in Maragua sub-county, Murang’a County.
The suspect, Enoch Mwangi, was rescued by police from angry residents who wanted to lynch him following reports that he had infected one of the boys with HIV/AIDS virus.
It was said that he was luring the victims into his house with money before sexually assaulting them.
A school teacher blew the whistle after noting behavoiur change in one of the boys, who also appeared ill and upon being taken to hospital doctors realized that he had been sodomised.
He was arraigned in Kigumo law courts before Resident Magistrate Agnes Mwangi where he was charged with having carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old boy through anal penetration and infecting him with deadly HIV virus.
He however denied the charges and was released on bond terms of KES.400,000 and a surety of similar amount while the case was slated to be mentioned on October 6 with the hearing of December 21, this year.
Among the 19 cases, police presented only one case in court.
Residents said the suspect had previously been arrested for similar allegations but was released under mysterious conditions by police officers at Saba Saba police station.
They added that his wife and four children left him a year ago after the immoral accusations.
