Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Deontay Wilder Arrested For Marijuana Possession

Heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder has been arrested for possession of drugs after he was stopped by police in Alabama.

Wilder was pulled over for a window tint violation at a parking lot when officers ‘smelled an odour of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle’ as they approached it.

They proceeded to search the vehicle and found a small amount of marijuana, leading to his arrest, Mirror writes.

According to his lawyer, Paul Patterson, the amount of marijuana was minimal and didn’t belong to him. He was allowed to post bond for £785.

“He returned home today from Georgia driving his Rolls Royce and selected his Cadillac Escalade from his fleet of vehicles to run errands,” Tuscaloosa Police Department said in a press release.

“A small amount of marijuana was detected in the vehicle and Officer Roach arrested Mr Wilder for misdemeanour possession’.

WBC champion Wilder was recently in England to see Anthony Joshua’s victory over Wladimir Klitschko in their epic heavyweight battle at Wembley and said he would love to have a go at the IBF and WBA holder in what would be a blockbuster unification bout.

The 32-year-old knockout artist is yet to be defeated after 38 bouts, and has and has enjoyed 37 stoppages in the process.
