Budalang’i MP, Ababu Namwamba has declared that the Luhya unity is real and unstoppable.
Speaking at Mayuba stadium in Sirisia constituency where the Sirisia MP John Waluke resigned from his two positions as the ODM NEC National Secretary for Security and Bungoma County chairman, Namwamba said that they have been frustrated, undermined and labeled all kinds of names by people close to Raila Odinga.
“This time round the Luhya unity is real. I have initiated talks with Ford Kenya party leader, Moses Wetang’ula, ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi, Ken Lusaka of NFK and former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo and we want to form a formidable force that will take us places. We can’t continue being submissive to other people,” he said.
Namwamba, who resigned last week as the ODM national Secretary General said that despite resigning from the party, they will still remain in ODM because they formed, supported, fought and still have shares in it.
He said that the Luhya unity will make sure equal distribution of resources and setting up of equal development projects.
“We have suffered and have been ridiculed because of playing the second hand politics. It is time that we came together and formed a stronger force that will take us places. We can’t continue staying in a party that undermines us; we are equal partners and should be treated with utmost respect,” said Namwamba.
He said that on Thursday they will meet a press conference where they will make a major statement about the politics of Western region.
“I have supported and stood with ODM in times of turmoil but I have been frustrated and undermined by some party officials who have even labeled me a mole for working with for the sake of development,” Waluke said.
He continued: “We have stood with ODM since it was formed. I was the NEC member and the ODM chairman Bungoma County but we have faced frustrations from some quarters. It is time I tendered my resignation.”
He said that he resigned because he was not benefiting from the opposition.
“Despite fighting for ODM, Raila Odinga has not supported me. Even when he was the Prime minister, he promised to nominate me in 2008 but I waited in vain,” said Waluke.
“For the short time I have worked with the ruling coalition, my people have reaped the benefits,” said Waluke.
