The Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), the umbrella body of all youths of Ijaw descent, has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are laying a foundation for the arrest of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The group noted that the recent arrest of Jonathan’s cousin, Robert Azibola, was an indication that the federal government would soon come after the former President.
The group vowed that the youths in of the region would resist any attempt to persecute Jonathan, noting that it would mark the beginning of trouble for the federal government.
Speaking at a news conference to mark the burial of a former Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, the IYC President, Udengs Eradiri, stated that many people who have a close relationship with the former president had been arrested by the EFCC was enough evidence of President Buhari’s plan.
Eradiri said Ijaw youths would not allow Azibaola, Jonathan or any rising Ijaw leader to be persecuted by the EFCC, the way the Federal Government dealt with the late Alamieyeseigha
