Crayon, a Nigerian singer, claims he became depressed eight years ago after being denied entry to university.
In an interview with Cool FM, the Mavin Records star revealed that he suffered with his mental health after being denied admission to a higher education institution like many of his pals.
Crayon, 22, claimed that he grew lonely as his pals left for university in Nigeria and abroad.
“I think it was because I could not get into the university. All my friends were in school. And at the time I was really close to my friends. Like I was the youngest among my friends. Anytime they are around, it is like it is always fun. So everybody got admitted into the university. Some in Ghana and Benin,” he said.
“And it was just me alone. It was so boring. I had nothing to do. My footballing career was not really kicking up for me as well.”
In June, the Mavin-signed singer said he gave up university education — after five attempts at the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) — to pursue a career in music.
Crayon got signed into Mavin Records in 2019.
Since the release of his eponymous debut EP, the singer has continued to make a name for himself.
Crayon also has several hit singles to his credit like ‘So Fine’, ‘Ijo Labalaba’, and ‘Tele’.
